Self-portrait by Isolino Vaz featured in exhibition at Gaia Municipal Library

Isolino Vaz’s self-portrait, from the painting collection of the Soares dos Reis National Museum, is the highlight of the exhibition that Gaia City Council is promoting as part of the centenary of the artist’s birth. The exhibition, which runs from January 21 to April 22 at the Municipal Library, also includes oil paintings, portraits on various media, drawings, studies of the stained glass windows of the Church of Monte da Virgem, book illustrations, sculptures, medals and photographs. Born in Vila Nova de Gaia in 1922, Isolino Vaz was a renowned artist and academic, having taught drawing to architects Álvaro Siza and Alcino Soutinho and visual artists such as Graça Morais and Joana Vasconcelos.
